One Day

Experience The Kente Process First Hand

This itinerary is fast-paced, highly visual, and optimized for travelers who want to see the scale of the trade, interact with artisans, and purchase authentic cloth at wholesale prices.

Tour runs on market days to allow travelers to see traders from Togo, Benin, and Nigeria buying cloth in massive quantities.

7am - 10am

Visit The Marketplace

We will start early at the Agbozume Kente Market. This is a bustling open-air trade hub. You will have a local guide show you the uniqueness of Ewe Kente and allow you to purchase authentic pieces at wholesale prices.

11am - 1pm

Go To Weavers Home

Then we will move away from the market noise into the quieter residential areas of the Somey Traditional Area. Roughly 95% of households here have looms inside their family compounds. You will sit with master weavers, hear the history of how the craft moved from historical migration routes into southeastern Ghana, and watch them work.

2pm - 4pm

Storytelling & Symbolic Dialogue

We will end the afternoon with a facilitated discussion over local refreshments. A master weaver will explain the meaning behind complex custom patterns and how names are given to specific fabric designs based on local proverbs or historical events.
